Templation

Templation Angkor is not just a stay, it's an experience. With two different options for luxury accommodation (Pool Suites or Jungloo, bungalow-like environmentally-conscious jungle igloos), both within 15 minutes of the famous Temples of Angkor, Templation is without a doubt the number one choice when you visit Siem Reap.

How to get there?

Templation Angkor offers an airport shuttle pick up and drop off, which can be arranged through hotel reception. It is easily accessible from the Siem Reap airport or the bus station, located about 10 minutes from the main center of Siem Reap town, and about 15 minutes to the Temples of Angkor.

Jungloo

Jungloo stands for Jungle-Igloo, and these are bungalow-type smaller glamping style tents located on the Templation property. Each Jungloo bungalow comes with its own private pool, bedroom and bathroom. Jungloo is a perfect combination of luxury accommodation and environmental consciousness. They were designed with respect to the surrounding nature, created with materials and building techniques that reduce impact on the environment, and maintain a self-cooling environment, which reduces air conditioning energy by 70%.

Jungloo is the perfect choice for environmentally-conscious travelers that appreciate a luxury touch. There are three locations, Jungloo at Templation (Siem Reap), Jungloo at Kabiki (Phnom Penh), and Jungloo at Floatation (Mekong River, Phnom Penh). Prices vary depending on which location you choose, but each property is around US$100/night.

Templation Pool Suites

Although we loved our time in the Jungloo, when we moved to the Pool Suites, we were in HEAVEN. We stayed in the 1 Bedroom Villa, complete with 2 bathrooms, a private pool, and a living room. Floating breakfast was delivered to our pool each morning, but if you prefer, you could have it in the main dining area.

We also enjoyed eating at the restaurant, and had the pleasure of meeting Benoit, the French head chef at Templation. He is also heading a local green garden project, which provides all fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs to Templation Hotel and Siem Reap Brew Pub. The garden is located at Siem Reap Brew Pub, a local pub and the only micro-brewery in Siem Reap (Jan 2020). This green project employs local people in the community, and they use the leftover grains from the beer-making process as compost in the garden. It is an amazing effort that is giving back to the community, and creates minimal waste. It was a breath of fresh air to see these green efforts, after traveling around Cambodia and Southeast Asia where pollution is high and organic, fresh produce is lacking.

Where to stay?

Overall, we loved both stays, but would probably choose the Pool Suites over Jungloo for our personal preference. For us, the living room with the sofa, table, and desk provided an extra work area and place to unwind. Also, the private pool with floating breakfast in the morning was bliss. If you’re just planning a quick 1 or 2 night stay in Siem Reap, Jungloo might be the better choice. It’s a more affordable option, yet still beautiful, and would be the perfect place to unwind after visiting the Temples. If you’re traveling and have a bit more time, we recommend the Pool Suites. This is also probably the more ideal option for groups or families traveling together.

Templation Experience

Templation offers many different experiences to make sure you have the best (and most relaxing!) stay. There is a spa on site that uses local and natural products by Bodia, the first natural cosmetic company in Cambodia. They offer massages, body wraps, facials, and other treatments, and are located just a short walk away from the hotel lobby.

They have bicycles and electric scooters on site, which are available to rent free of charge. We used the bicycles to get to the Angkor Wat Ticket Office, which was about a 25 minute cycle ride from Templation.

Templation also offers a romantic floating dinner for 2 at the main pool, which includes 7 decadent courses and a bottle of wine. We were lucky enough to enjoy this set up, and also got to sample some of the vegetarian dishes.

Side by side in the resort there is a fitness center and a library. The fitness center is small but has everything you need for a workout on the go. The library/work center  is great if you need a quiet place to do some work, or if you would like to learn more about the Ancient Khmer civilization. Here they have an Angkor Database Library, complete with must-read essays and art books dedicated to Cambodia and everything you’ve wanted to know about Angkor.
